A Washington state firm has purchased Medallic Art Co. in Dayton, with plans to move its corporate headquarters to the western Nevada area.
Northwest Territorial Mint of Auburn Wash., says the move to the 118,000-square-foot building will let it expand operations.
Officials say the move could bring about 200 new jobs to the Lyon County area 40 miles southeast of Reno.
Northern Nevada Development Authority officials courted Northwest Mint to the region.
Part of that value will be the 75-100 employees Northwest Mint will be moving to the area, including executives, artists, sculptors, and skilled craftsmen.
Officials say Northwest Territorial Mint is the largest private mint in the world, and they have minted currency for 19 countries. The company also makes medals and awards for organizations and governments.
