Blue book is a general idea on what a coin dealer may pay you for a coin. Coin prices change constantly. If you are looking to grade a coin you can send it in to be slabbed but sometimes you pay more for the slab than the coin is worth. A good guide for grading is photograde. If your into error coins pick up the cherrypicker’s guide.PS the coin in PR65 Cameo is only worth $32 retail. A dealer may pay $20 or $15. That is more than the silver price.
First, do NOT NOT NOT!! rely on color. Go online and look up the Earth Science Reference Tables, or ESRT. On the last page there is a mineral list, and in the middle of the ESRT there are three charts identifying common sedimentary, metamorphic, and igneous rocks.
Now, if they are minerals, use a unglazed ceramic tile to test streak. Then, examine it. If it breaks in a pattern, it has cleavage. If not, it has fracture. Then, take your fingernail. Can it scratch it? If so, it has a hardness of 2.5 or less. Now, take a penny. If is scratches the penny, then it is 3.5 or more. If it scratches glass, it is 5.5 or more.
Now look at your rocks. If there are gas pockets, is smooth like glass, or has large, intergrown crystals, you have an igneous rock. Now, if it has banding, or foliation, it is metamorphic. (High pressure underground causes minerals of like densities to band together) Lastly, if it has fossils or shells or particles embedded into it, or it feels like sand, it is sedimentary.
Now, armed with this information, go research a mineral identification site and you will find out what you have! Trust me, i've done it before.
I had amethyst and limestone.
if the bolt holes match up (say, 4×114.5), then they'll usually fit.
the only issue you may encounter is offset – if the rims aren't offset enough, you may get clearance issues with the brakes. if you know the offset of both rims, you can compare and determine if it'll fit, but if you don't you have to mount them and see.
One has to understand that there are coin collectors and currency collectors then there are numismatists who not only collect but also study and know the history of the coins or currency they have or would like to have. The same thing goes with stamps. philatelist's know the history and study stamps while collectors just collect them. Give the powers to be time and they will make up a name for currency collectors. They have already done it for token and medal collectors.
This article gives steps on how to calculate the value of both old Canadian coins (junk silver coins) that contained silver and also different Canadian Maple Leafs made of silver and gold.
